New Delhi: A man was stabbed to death while two of his friends sustained critical injuries when they tried to intervene to stop the fight in a west Delhi area, police said on Monday.

A case has been registered and manhunt is on to arrest Rajkumar

Police said the incident took place late on Sunday night at around 12.50 am when the Police Control Room (PCR) was informed about a man being stabbed to death by a drunken person during a quarrel in JJ Cluster area of Udyog Nagar.

“Deceased Pankaj, along with his friend Puran, tried to mediate between his neighbours Vijay and Rajkumar over a petty issue. Rajkumar, who was in an inebriated state, went to his cluster and brought a knife and stabbed Vijay multiple times,” Deputy Commissioner of Police MN Tiwari said.

“When Pankaj and Puran tried to save Vijay from the clutches of Rajkumar, they were too attacked by him. Rajkumar fled the spot immediately. All the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where Pankaj succumbed to his injuries, while Puran and Vijay are under treatment and out of danger,” Tiwari said.

A case has been registered and manhunt is on to arrest Rajkumar, the officer added.
