NIA arrests 7 Kashmiri separatists for receiving terror funding from Pakistan
New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday finally cracked the whip by arresting seven Hurriyat leaders who allegedly received funds from Pakistan to sponsor terror activities and stone-pelting in the Kashmir Valley.
The arrested included Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s son-in-law Altaf Shah and Mirwaiz Farooq’s close aide Shahid-ul-Islam.
The others arrested were Hurriyat leaders are Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s spokesperson Ayaz Akbar, his close confidante Nayeem Khan, Mehrajuddin Kalwal, Saifullah and Bitta Karate.
Bitta Karate was arrested from Delhi while others were arrested from Srinagar.
An official of the NIA said that all the arrested would be brought to Delhi on Monday.
It may be mentioned here that Nayeem Khan had in a TV sting operation carried out by India Today had confessed that Hurriyat leaders have been receiving funds from Pakistan for carrying out anti-national and subversive activities in the Kashmir Valley.
