Pakistan again violates ceasefire, heavy fire exchange on in J&K’s Poonch
Jammu: Pakistani troops on Wednesday again resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation which led to heavy exchange fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector of Jammu region.
According to Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta, the Pakistan Army initiated indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars at 9.05 am on Wednesday on the Indian Army posts in Digwar area of Poonch sector of Jammu region.
He said that the unprovoked aggression by the Pakistani troops was retaliated to by Indian Army in a strong and effective manner.
There is no casualty on our side, he said, adding that this is the second incident of unprovoked firing in the same sector.
It may be mentioned here that today’s ceasefire violation is the fourth such incident in less than 48 hours along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
The firing exchange still continues, he said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistani troops had resorted to firing and shelling of mortar on forward posts in Bhimbher Gali sector of Rajouri district.
