Pakistani army again resorts to firing on LoC in Poonch sector

Jammu: Exhibiting signs of frustration due to repeated failed attempts to push in terrorists from its side, the Pakistani Army again resorted to indiscriminate shelling and firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday.

People living in the area have been restricted to their homes

According to a senior police official, the Pakistan Army on second consecutive day, resorted to unprovoked firing along the LoC in Poonch sector, “On Friday, from early morning at around 7 am, the Pakistani army targeted Indian positions using mortars, automatics and small arms,” said the police official adding that the target from across the border was also the civilian areas.

He said that the civilian facilities targeted by the Pakistani Army included Karmara area and in view of the same all educational institutions were closed.

Confirming the unprovoked Pakistan aggression, Defence sources said that the Indian Army has been strongly and effectively retaliating and the firing exchanges were still on in the sector.

Earlier on Thursday, an army soldier and a civilian porter were killed and five soldiers and another porter were injured in the firing by Pakistan in the same area.

People living in the area have been restricted to their homes, said the police official.
