Soldier killed in Pakistan ceasefire violation in Poonch; Another terrorist killed
Jammu: With security forces stepping up counter terrorism operations in the Kashmir valley that led to the killing of two LeT terrorists in Pulwama district on Thursday morning, an Indian soldier was killed on the Line of Control (LoC) in a fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Poonch sector of the state in the evening.
According to a senior police official, the Pakistani army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of the LoC in Poonch district on Thursday.
He said that an army soldier was killed in Pakistan firing on the LoC.
“the Indian Army has effectively retaliated Pakistan firing with equal calibre weapons.”
Meanwhile, yet another terrorist was killed and an army officer injured in a shootout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday evening.
According to a senior police official, on receiving information about some terrorists travelling by road in the Bandipora town, the security forces set up a checkpost outside the Bandipora police station.
“During the checking operation, the terrorist travelling in a vehicle fired at the checking party, resulting in injuries to a major,” said the police official.
However, in the retaliatory firing, the terrorist, who was later identified as Mushtaq Peer got killed. He was associated with Hizbul Mujahideen, said the police official.
