Soldier martyred in fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistan in J&K’s Rajouri

Jammu: An Army jawan was martyred when the Pakistan army again on Saturday afternoon resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Manjakot area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

Pakistani firing and shelling was reported along the LoC in Balakote

According to defence ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta, 35-year-old Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer from border district of Poonch in J&K, was hit during the firing and shelling by the Pakistani troops on the Indian posts.

“Unprovoked firing from Pakistan’s side started at around 1.40 pm and it was responded strongly by our army” he added.

He said, “in the fire exchange, Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries.”

The defence spokesman said that Naseer belonged to Ajout village of Poonch district.

The Pakistani firing and shelling was reported along the LoC in Balakote, Panjgrian, Naika and Manjakote areas.

The incident comes hours after security forces neutralised three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Meanwhile, a Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) constable was injured in a grenade attack by terrorists on a security patrolling party in Laroo area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Saturday evening.

A senior police official said that the terrorists lobbed a hand grenade at a joint patrolling party of CRPF and police at Laroo in Kulgam at around 5pm.

He said the injured CRPF constable was taken to a hospital in Srinagar where his condition is stated to be stable.
