Terrorist abduct soldier in J&K’s Shopian

Srinagar: Terrorists abducted a soldier from Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.

Some leads have been picked up to rescue the abducted soldier

A senior police official said that the soldier, identified as Aurangzeb Khan of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), was on leave and was travelling to Rajouri district for Eid when the terrorists stopped his vehicle in Kalampora area and kidnapped him.

Sources in the defence establishment said that some leads have been picked up to rescue the abducted soldier but the Army is tight-lipped about the issue as it fears that any statement might jeopardise the rescue operation.

It may be mentioned here that the abduction comes on a day when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is discussing the extension or calling off of the Ramazan ceasefire that is set to end on Friday.
