Terrorist attack GREF camp in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector, 3 labourers killed
Jammu: In a desperate bid to gsin foothold following demonetisation, terrorists attacked the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) near the international border (IB) in early hours of Monday, killing three labourers.
According to a police official, terrorists attacked a GREF camp around 2.30 am in Battal area of Akhnoor sector of the International Border. “Three labourers working for GREF were killed in the terror attack,” said the official.
The police official said that it was still unclear as to what was the exact number terrorists who managed to escape after carrying out a shhot and scoot kind of attack.
Immediately after the attack, the security forces swung into action and cordoned off the entire area. “Though an intense search operation is on, the terrorists responsible for the said act are still to be nabbed,” said the police official.
It may be mentioned here that the GREF is the parent cadre force of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) that builds and maintains border roads in the country.
This is the first terror attack after Nagrota that took place on November 29, 2016 in which terrorists wearing police uniforms attacked an army camp in Nagrota area of Jammu, killing seven soldiers including two officers.
