Three LeT terrorists killed in J&K’s Anantnag, encounter underway

Srinagar: It was a major success for the security forces when they succeeded in killing three associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists Abu Ismail in an ongoing encounter in Wani Hama village of Anantnag district on Monday evening.

The encounter was underway in the area when reports last came in

According to a senior police official, on receiving a specific information that LeT terrorists would be passing through the Wanihama (Brakpora) area of Anantnag in a car, security forces comprising the Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police laid an ambush and engaged them in an encounter in which three LeT terrorists were neutralised.

Sources in the police said that the encounter was underway in the area when reports last came in.

Earlier in the day, terrorists attacked an army convoy at Bijbehara in Anantnag. Security personnel retaliated and one person was injured in the firing.

The Army also cordoned off the area and launched an operation to track down the terrorists, said a police official.

It may be recalled that eight Amarnath pilgrims were killed and dozens injured when a bus carrying tehm was attacked by group of at least four motorcycle borne terrorists on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Anantnag on July 10.
