Two terrorists killed in J&K’s Anantnag, encounter on

Srinagar: At least two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag on Tuesday.

The slain terrorists were locals and were identified as Muhammad Furhan and Muhammad Farham

According to a senior police official, security forces comprising the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Special Operations Group of the state police surrounded Larnoo village following a tip off about the presence of some terrorists in Larnoo area of Anantnag’s Kokernag forest.

“As the security forces closed in on the hiding terrorists whose number was estimated to be around five, they were fired triggering an encounter,” said the police official.

He said that till reports last came in, two of the hiding terrorists were neutralised by the security forces.

The slain terrorists were locals and were identified as Muhammad Furhan and Muhammad Farham.

The police official added that the encounter was still going on to force the remaining terrorists hiding in the area surrender or otherwise neutralise them.

As a precautionary measure, internet services have been suspended in south Kashmir, further said the police official.
