Two terrorists killed, soldier martyred in J&K’s Bandipora encounter

Srinagar: The Army on Thursday finally succeeded in gunning down two terrorists in the forests of Panar in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district after days of relentless combing and search operation in the area.

A search operation was launched in the area earlier this week after an Army patrol team were fired at by the terrorists

Though two terrorists were neutralised in a fierce encounter, an Army soldier was also martyred in the operation, said a police official.

Confirming the incident, Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that two terrorists were neutralised and a soldier was martyred in the ongoing operation in Panar forest area.

It may be mentioned here that a search operation was launched in the area earlier this week after an Army patrol team were fired at by the terrorists.

The encounter took place on the day when crucial security review meeting is scheduled to be held in national capital to take a decision whether to extend the Ramzan suspension of operation by the security forces beyond Eid.
