White tigers maul keeper to death in Bengaluru zoo

Bengaluru: Two white tigers in Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) here on Saturday mauled a keeper to death when he entered their enclosure to feed them.

It may be mentioned here that BBP is part of Bannerghatta National Park

“Anjaneya, the 40-year-old animal keeper was attacked by two white tigers when he went inside the enclosure to feed them,” Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife, C Jayaram said here.

“The incident took place around 5.45 pm due. As the animal keeper was mauled by the feline, he suffered severe injuries and succumbed to his injuries,” said the forest official.

It may be mentioned here that BBP is part of Bannerghatta National Park which is situated near Bangalore.

The Park was founded in 1970 and declared as a national park in 1974.

In 2002 a portion of the park, became a biological reserve, the Bannerghatta Biological Park.
