Wild elephant kills man in Uttarakhand forests

Dehradun: Filming a wild pachyderm on his mobile cost his life. Yes, a 27-year-old man was killed by a wild elephant when he was attempting to film the animal on his mobile phone.

Locals drove away the elephant and rushed the injured man to the Himalayan hospital

According to a senior forest official, the incident took place at around 2 pm on Thursday in the Kaluwala forest area on the outskirts of the state capital.

He said that two youth from Aheermandi in the city went on a bike to the forest area and on spotting the pachyderm, one of them went very close and started filming the animal with his mobile phone.

The forest official, quoting the other individual accompanying the deceased said that the elephant apparently ran amok and killed Vivek Kumar by catching him by his trunk and subsequently throwing him on the ground.

However, the locals drove away the elephant and rushed the injured man to the Himalayan hospital in Jolly Grant where doctors declared him brought dead.
