Pakistani chopper violates Indian airspace in J&K’s Poonch

Jammu: A Pakistani helicopter violated Indian air space on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector but a Defence Ministry spokesman said it was likely a civilian chopper.

The chopper that violated the Indian airspace was occupied by PoK prime minister

Jammu-based Army Public Relations Officer Lt Col Devender Anand said the Pakistani helicopter violated the airspace around 12:10 pm. A white-colour chopper crossed into this side in Gulpur sector and hovered for sometime before turning back, officials said.

Indian troops fired at the helicopter with small arms, he said. The helicopter took a turn and went back into Pakistan occupied territory after five minutes, the spokesman added.

Later, in a clarification by the Pakistan dispensation it was stated that the chopper flew into Indian airspace by mistake and the moment it realised that it was in Indian airspace, it flew back.

It is also claimed that the chopper that violated the Indian airspace was occupied by PoK prime minister.

Earlier reports said the helicopter belonged to the Pakistan Army.
