Security forces kill two terrorists in J&K’s Bandipora

Srinagar: Two terrorists were killed on Thursday in an encounter with the security forces in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The identity of the slain terrorists is still to be establised

A senior police official said that two terrorists have been killed in the encounter. “Body of one of the neutralised terrorist has been recovered while the other is still at the encounter site”, said the police official.

He said that on receiving inputs about presence of some terrorists in Sumlar village of Bandipora, troops of counter insurgency Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) initiated a cordon and search operation in the area.

The police official said that as the cordon was tightened, hiding terrorists resorted firing, triggering an encounter in which two terrorists were killed.

He said that though the firing exchanges have stopped, searches were still on in the area.

The identity of the slain terrorists is still to be established, added the police official.
