Two Hizbul terrorists including top commander killed in J&K’s Kupwara

Srinagar: It was a big success for the security forces when two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists including its top commander were killed on Thursday following a fierce encounter in Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Among the two neutralised terrorists was one Manan Wani, who had recently joined terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen after leaving Aligarh Muslim University where he was pursuing Ph D.

The encounter began early on Thursday morning when holed up terrorists fired at security cordon in Shatgund village of Handwara tehsil of Kupwara district.

Confirming the report, a senior police official said that the identities of the slain terrorists have been established.

He said that among the terrorists neutralised was Hizbul commander Manan Bashir Wani, who left Aligarh Muslim University to joining the Pakistan based terror outfit, Hizbul Mujahideen.

The police official said that slain terrorists Manan Wani was from Lolab area of Kupwara.

Authorities have ordered closure of all educational institutions and suspended mobile Internet services in the district.
