Three Hizbul terrorists killed in J&K’s Anantnag encounter

Srinagar: Three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in the outskirts of Anantnag’s Pajalpura area in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning.

This was the first encounter in the valley since mobile network service was restored

According to a senior police official, incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site. He said that the locals have been requested to co operate and stay away until the area was sanitised.

This was the first encounter in the valley since mobile network service was restored after a gap of 72 days on Monday.

The police official said that the security forces on Wednesday surrounded Pazalpora village in Bijbehara area following specific information about a group of terrorists hiding there.

“As the security cordon tightened on the hiding terrorists, they fired triggering an encounter,” said the police official adding that till reports last came in, the firing exchanges were still on in the area.

He said that the identity of the neutralised Hizbul terrorists were being ascertained.
