Youth jumps in lion’s enclosure at Delhi zoo, rescued

New Delhi: A 21-year-old man from Bihar managed to enter into a lion’s enclosure in Delhi zoo on Thursday but was rescued by the authorities in time.

The incident had led to pandemonium in the zoo as other zoo visitors started shouting at the youth to retreat

According to zoo officials, the person who entered the lion’s enclosure was identified as Rehan Khan, a resident of Bihar and came to Delhi for a visit.

On Thursday, Khan entered into the enclosure of a lion at the Delhi zoo and squatted in from of the lion. “The lion came near the intruder and turned back after a close look at him,” said a the zoo official adding that the feline did not attack the youth for the simple reason that it was not hungry.

The incident had led to pandemonium in the zoo as other zoo visitors started shouting at the youth to retreat.

In the meantime, the zoo officials came to know about the incident and without wasting time, tranqualised the lion with a mild dose and before it could be fully immobilised, the zoo keepers entered the enclosure and rescued the youth safely out.

He was later handed over to the police.
