Srinagar: A soldier was martyred during an encounter in which a terrorists was also gunned down in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

He said that the encounter has ended but a search operation was still on in the area

A senior police official said that a soldier and a policeman were also injured in the encounter that broke out in Nowbug village of Devsar area of Kulgam district.

The police official said that the slain terrorists has been identified as Muzamil Ahmad of Yaripora village of Kulgam district.

The neutralised terrorist was associated with the Hijbul Mujaheddin and had been active in the area for over three years.

He said that the injured soldier and policeman were shifted to a hospital where there condition is stated to be out of danger.

As a precautionary measure, the authorities suspended Internet services in south Kashmir areas and ordered the suspension of train service for the day after the encounter started earlier in the day, said the police official.

He said that the encounter has ended but a search operation was still on in the area.

Besides, the Kulgam encounter, security forces succeeded in busting a terrorist hideout in Laam village in Pulwama district, added the police official.
